What You’ll Do

You will be responsible for managing McKinsey’s lease contracts within your portfolio to find opportunities to optimize real estate commitments and to manage occupancy costs.



In this role, you will regularly review and analyze the portfolio against metrics, market knowledge and location needs to design and execute a real estate strategy for each location in line with the global real estate strategy within your portfolio. You will contribute to the development and implementation of global real estate strategic initiatives. You will work closely with local stakeholders, including senior leadership, in relocations, new locations, renewals, renovations and subleasing. You will define the requirements, lead the building selection process (if relevant), negotiate/execute contracts (leases, vendors and others) and work with our project manager and/or workplace specialist to guide local stakeholders through design and any construction/build-out process (including setting/managing the construction budget) to move in.

You will collaborate with local stakeholders, our project manager and/or workplace specialist as a part of the team responsible for selecting, negotiating terms with, and engaging external advisors (e.g., architects, project managers, brokers, construction specialists). You will leverage tools prepared by our data specialists to track and analyze occupancy metrics, spend and project future occupancy costs to drive insight into the portfolio and explore opportunities to optimize our approach.



Who You’ll Work With

You will be based in our Chicago or New York office as part of our global real estate department with a focus on locations in our North America and Latin American regions. The real estate department provides strategic and hands-on expertise and support to McKinsey in managing their global real estate portfolio.



You will work in close collaboration with a senior portfolio manager, and/or project managers, and/or workplace specialists to provide expertise, advice and leadership on real estate strategies and projects through your portfolio in all aspects of the real estate life cycle to ensure that each location’s real estate solution aligns with the overall global strategy that you will also help shape for Mckinsey.
