Square Jobs – Tax Analyst

Job Description:

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support global indirect tax planning and potential acquisitions
  • Provide support for compliance with all global indirect tax requirements, including, but not limited to managing different source data, reviewing workpapers prepared internally or by a third-party provider (e.g., SUT returns, VAT/GST returns, EC Sales list, intrastat, etc.), and monitoring the compliance calendar
  • Prepare and review of the monthly U.S. and/or international indirect tax accruals and reconciliations for key accounts for SOX control purposes

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated passion and track record of delivering results in a rapidly changing business environment
  • Must be able to analyze all sides of an argument, have strong analytical skills, document tax positions for our auditors, and ensure that the proper checks and balances are in place to ensure all aspects have been considered

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of tax experience working at a public accounting firm and/or multinational corporation; primarily focused on indirect tax
  • Familiarity with e-commerce sales taxation/VAT trends and the indirect tax implications
